The HealthSelect Medicare Advantage Plan (MA PPO) is a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan. As a member of a PPO plan, you have a lot of flexibility in choosing a provider. The HealthSelect MA PPO plan allows you to see any provider or facility as long as they accept the plan and have not opted out of or been excluded from Medicare. No referral is needed to see any provider under this plan.
You can choose from a network of contracted doctors and hospitals nationwide. A network is a group of health care providers and facilities that have a contract and have agreed to bill UnitedHealthcare directly.
Providers who are not in-network are not required to submit claims directly to UnitedHealthcare for you. In some cases, an out-of-network provider may make you pay upfront for your care and then you must submit the claim to UnitedHealthcare for reimbursement. For the most convenience and no up-front costs, choose providers that are willing to bill UnitedHealthcare.
