Enrollment

The 2025 Federal Open Season runs from November 11 to December 9, 2024.

Already a member of SAMBA Health Plan

If you are already a member of the SAMBA Health Plan, you can elect the enhanced level of benefits (UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan), at any time by calling UnitedHealthcare at 1-866-794-6791, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. local time, 7 days a week. TTY users, call 711. You must remain enrolled in the SAMBA Health Plan to be eligible for the enhanced level of benefits.

Not yet a member of SAMBA Health Plan

If you are not yet a member of the SAMBA Health Plan, you must first visit the Office of Personel Management (OPM) website or call the OPM Retirement Information Center at 888-767-6738 to enroll in the SAMBA Health Plan (Enrollment Codes: High Option: 441, 442, 443; Standard Option: 444, 445, 446).

What if the enrollment deadline has passed?

If the enrollment deadline has passed, you may not be able to enroll in a plan until the next enrollment period, unless you qualify for a Special Election Period.

If you are already a member of the SAMBA Health Plan, you can elect the enhanced level of benefits (UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan), at any time.

If you are not yet a member of the SAMBA Health Plan, you must enroll in the plan during Open Season or qualifying event before electing the enhanced level of benefits.

Once you are a member of the SAMBA Health Plan, you may enroll into the SAMBA  Medicare Advantage Plan any time of the year.

It's important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B when you first become eligible, during the Initial Enrollment Period. Medicare Part B requires a monthly premium payment for coverage, which is determined by when you enroll. In most cases, premium rates increase by 10 percent for each full 12-month period that you could have had Part B, but were not enrolled.
