Find a Provider
The IBM-sponsored Group Medicare Advantage plans are Preferred Provider Organization PPO plans, which means you have flexibility in choosing a provider. You will be able to utilize any doctor, clinic or hospital across the country - at the same cost share, whether they are in or out-of-network as long as the provider accepts Medicare, is willing to see you, and is willing to bill UnitedHealthcare. That includes over 1 million in-network providers, as well as any other provider that participates in Medicare and accepts the plan.

Disclaimer
Contract negotiations between health plans and health systems are a routine part of business. UnitedHealthcare negotiates thousands of provider contracts every year, and the vast majority of those negotiations result in renewed contracts with no disruption for its members. UnitedHealthcare provides members with advance notice of network changes as required by Medicare rules. Providers may also notify their patients in advance about these discussions.
IBM does not directly participate in these negotiations, however, we closely monitor them to understand their potential impact on our retirees.
UnitedHealthcare advocates are available to assist retirees locating alternative providers if needed. Please contact UnitedHealthcare (1-877-852-0641, TTY 711) to discuss care options.
Please note: If an out-of-network provider participates in Medicare and accepts the plan this means that the provider or hospital agrees to treat you and be paid according to Medicare Advantage payment methodologies set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Emergencies would be covered even if out-of-network.
