What if the enrollment deadline has passed?

If you are already a member of the APWU Health Plan’s High Option, you can elect the enhanced level of benefits (UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan), at any time.

If you are not yet a member of the APWU Health Plan’s High Option, you must enroll in the plan (plan codes 471, 472, or 473) during Open Season before electing the enhanced level of benefits.

If the Open Season enrollment deadline has passed, you may not be able to enroll in the APWU Health Plan High Option until the next enrollment period, unless you qualify for a Qualifying Life Event.

It's important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B when you first become eligible, during the Initial Enrollment Period. Medicare Part B requires a monthly premium payment for coverage, which is determined by when you enroll. In most cases, premium rates increase by 10 percent for each full 12-month period that you could have had Part B, but were not enrolled.
