Enrollment

Interested in enrolling?  Call 1-844-481-8821, TTY 711 to learn more or complete the enrollment process.

Enrollment process

UnitedHealthcare PSHB Plan availability and rates
You will need to enter your zip code and click on ‘Health Plans’ to determine what UnitedHealthcare PSHB Health Plan is available in your area. Once enrolled in the applicable UnitedHealthcare PSHB Health Plan, you can enroll in the Retiree Advantage plan. If you do not enroll in the Retiree Advantage plan (which includes Part D prescription drug coverage) you will be automatically enrolled in the MedicareRX Part D prescription drug plan with the Choice Plus Primary medical benefits.

* Please note: Choice Plus Primary plan codes KE and JY are the plan codes available to postal retirees and your zip code will determine which plan you are eligible for.  The plan benefits are the same no matter which plan code your zip code qualifies you for.

Have questions? Schedule an appointment with a member of the UnitedHealthcare FEHB Account Management team.

Who is eligible to enroll in the plan?

  • You may enroll in our Medicare Advantage plan once enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare PSHB Health Plan code with OPM
  • You have both Medicare Part A & Part B primary
  • You are retired
    • If you are a spouse/dependent, the postal employee must be retired in order for you to be eligible for this plan
  • You are a United States citizen or are lawfully present in the United States
  • You do NOT have End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), with limited exceptions
  • You complete an application for enrollment in the UnitedHealthcare Retiree Advantage Plan

What if the enrollment deadline has passed?

If the enrollment deadline has passed, and you have not yet enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare PSHB Health Plan you won't be able to enroll in a plan until the next open season period, unless you have a Qualifying Life Event. If the enrollment deadline has passed and you are currently enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare PSHB Health Plan, you may enroll in the Retiree Advantage Plan at any time.

It's important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B when you first become eligible, during the Initial Enrollment Period. Medicare Part B requires a monthly premium payment for coverage, which is determined by when you enroll. In most cases, premium rates increase by 10 percent for each full 12-month period that you could have had Part B, but were not enrolled. You will receive a monthly part B subsidy of $150 if you elect to enroll in the Retiree Advantage plan.

What happens after I enroll?

After you submit your enrollment request form, here's what you can expect:

  1. We'll review your form and verify your eligibility.
  2. After you're verified, your application will be sent to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for approval. Approval may take up to one week.
  3. Once CMS approves your enrollment, you'll be sent a confirmation letter and your plan member ID card.
  4. Soon after, you'll receive your Member Kit in the mail. It includes details about your specific health plan benefits.
  5. Watch for your Annual Notice of Changes, which is mailed to you every year you're a plan member. It describes your benefits, and any changes to them, for the next calendar year.
