Enrollment information
Who is eligible to enroll in the plan?
- You may enroll in our Medicare Advantage plan once enrolled in a G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan code with OPM (FEHB or PSHB)
- You have both Medicare Part A & Part B primary
- You are retired
- If you are a spouse/dependent, the federal employee must be retired in order for you to be eligible for this plan
- You are a United States citizen or are lawfully present in the United States
- You do NOT have End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), with limited exceptions
- You complete an application for enrollment in the G.E.H.A. Medicare Advantage Plan
Already a member of G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan
If you are already a member of the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan, you can elect the enhanced level of benefits (UnitedHealthcare G.E.H.A. Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan) at any time by calling UnitedHealthcare at 1-844-491-9898, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. local time, Monday - Friday. TTY users, call 711. You must remain enrolled in the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan to be eligible for the enhanced level of benefits.
Not yet a member of G.E.H.A.
If you are not yet a member of the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan, you must first visit the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) website or call the OPM Retirement Information Center at 888-767-6738 to enroll in the G.E.H.A. medical plans (Enrollment Codes: High Option: 311, 312, 313; Standard Option: 314, 315, 316).
What if the enrollment deadline has passed?
If the enrollment deadline has passed and you are not enrolled in the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan, you may not be able to enroll in a plan until the next Open Season, unless you qualify for a Qualifying Life Event.
If you are already a member of the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan, you can elect the enhanced level of benefits (UnitedHealthcare G.E.H.A. Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan), at any time.
Once you are a member of the G.E.H.A. High or Standard medical plan, you may enroll into the G.E.H.A. Medicare Advantage Plan any time of the year.
It's important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B when you first become eligible, during the Initial Enrollment Period. Medicare Part B requires a monthly premium payment for coverage, which is determined by when you enroll. In most cases, premium rates increase by 10 percent for each full 12-month period that you could have had Part B, but were not enrolled.
