Enrollment Information

The Open Enrollment period for the UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO plan, sponsored by CTPF, was held each year from October 1 – 31. All plan changes made during Open Enrollment become effective January 1  of the following year.

Current CTPF non-Medicare Health Plan Enrollees

If you are currently enrolled in a CTPF non-Medicare plan and want to continue coverage with CTPF when you turn 65, you must enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B, and provide CTPF with proof of enrollment before the month of your 65th birthday. If you fail to provide proof of Medicare enrollment, your CTPF health insurance will terminate on the last day of the month prior to your Medicare eligibility month.

More Information about turning age 65

CTPF offers bimonthly Medicare “Birthday Parties” designed to help members turning age 65 evaluate their health insurance options. You will receive a personal invitation to this event if you or your dependent are currently covered on a CTPF health plan and are turning 65 in 2024.

Understanding CTPF’s and Medicare’s Open Enrollment Dates

The annual Open Enrollment period for CTPF was October 1 through October 31. Changes to your CTPF medical coverage can be made during this time. If you want to disenroll from your UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO coverage for 2024, please contact CTPF to understand how this will impact your health insurance coverage. This Open Enrollment period is different from Medicare’s annual open enrollment period, which was from October 15 through December 7. CTPF retirees may only make plan changes during the CTPF Open Enrollment period which was from October 1 through October 31.
